Lent 2013
Lent 2013 beings on Ash Wednesday, February 13th, 2013. Eastern Rite Catholics celebrate the beginning of Lent two days prior on Clean Monday, February 11th, 2013.
How Long Is Lent?
Lent usually lasts 40 days in commemoration of the 40 days spent fasting by the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Jesus in the desert. Most of the population of Western Christianity observe lent as beginning on Ash Wednesday. They believe that it ends on Maudy or Holy Thursday, or on Easter Eve. Sundays aren’t often considered days that are in observance of the Lent Rules.
